Brian Steer, Executive Chairman
Brian Steer’s experience spans forty years of management within the healthcare industry including twenty years with Baxter Healthcare, which he joined in 1963, holding several positions within the International Division including President of Europe. He spent a further 10 years as President of Zimmer International, a Bristol Myers Squibb company. In 1993 he formed Steer Associates, consulting for Orthofix, Gyrus, Genetics Institute and others. He later became Director and Chief Operating Officer of Orthofix. In 1995 he led a buy-in/buy-out of Cremascoli, an Italian orthopaedic company, subsequently sold to Warburg Pincus.
He joined Gyrus in 1997 and was executive chairman until Gyrus was sold to Olympus in 2008.
Dr Paul Unwin PhD, CEO and General Manager
Paul joined Stanmore Implants in 1996, is an authority on limb-salvage implants, and a board member of the International Society On Limb Salvage (ISOLS). He has extensive experience of product design, development, regulatory approval, manufacturing and commercial operations in the orthopaedic implant area. Prior to joining Stanmore Implants he worked with AEA Technology and holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from University College London.
Nigel Low, Commercial Director
Nigel has worked with the Company since 2005. He has extensive experience in technology-focused healthcare businesses with previous posts including a senior role with UK biotech company Ionix Pharmaceuticals, business development and strategy at GlaxoWellcome and management consultancy with McKinsey & Co. He holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge.
Prof Gordon Blunn PhD, Chief Scientific Officer
Gordon Blunn has extensive experience in orthopaedic medical devices,
materials and musculo-skeletal tissues. Gordon has led many successful
research projects funded by government bodies and orthopaedic companies
and has established a team of dynamic researchers, some of whom
are focused on enhancing massive endoprosthetic replacements.
Fabienne Briant, Marketing Manager
Fabienne Briant joined Stanmore Implants in May 2001 after 6 years previous experience in International Sales in the biomedical sector. She has a post-graduate diploma in General Management and a Master Degree in Business Foreign Languages. Fabienne is leading the Marketing Division from the Stanmore Implants Lyon-based office in France. She is fluent in French, English and Spanish.
Neil Lattimer, Head of Finance
Neil Lattimer joined Stanmore Implants in October 2002. He has over
18 years experience in commercial sector finance and operations supported
by qualifications in Management Accounting and Banking. His experience
includes heading the finance division of a Biotechnology Company which
successfully raised £5.75m venture capital prior to achieving a business
sale for in excess of £20m; additional senior financial positions
have included being a Business Manager for a Major UK Clearing bank.
