The Technology
An external rotating magnetic field captures a powerful magnet
mounted inside the prosthesis, causing it to rotate in synchronisation.
This generates a very small torque. The torque is then amplified
through a gearbox driving a power screw and telescoping the
prosthesis at a rate of 1 mm in 4 minutes

Case report
We report the case of a young female whose chronological age was
13 at the time she was diagnosed with an Osteosarcoma grade 2b of
her left distal femur. The expected remaining growth was 40mm.
We designed a JTS non-invasive custom-made distal femoral endoprothesis
with a passive sliding tibial component and a precision fit, HA coated
IM stem.
The JTS distal femur was implanted in November 2002. In January 2003,
the first lengthening procedure was performed and obtained growth
was 4mm.
Second lengthening episode was performed in March 2003 with another
4 mm extension obtained.
In spring 2003, the patient is pain free and her ROM is maintained.
